Italian tax refunds and 730 filing deadlines
Taxpayers in Italy are navigating different timelines for 730 tax return refunds and opportunities for corrections. While some reports suggest certain refunds might be delayed until March 2027 due to preventive audits by the Agenzia delle Entrate, many taxpayers can expect payments via their October or November paychecks or pensions.
Employees who submitted their 730 forms during the summer or up until the September 30 deadline may receive credits through their employers once the accounting results are processed. Similarly, pensioners will receive adjustments through INPS or other pension entities. Delays to 2027 are generally reserved for specific cases involving tax authority investigations.
Additionally, the deadline for submitting a supplementary 730 (modello 730 integrativo) is October 26. This tool allows taxpayers to correct errors or omissions from their original filing, such as forgotten medical or educational expenses, provided the change results in a higher tax credit, a lower tax debt, or an unchanged tax amount.
