Italian tennis players compete in Vienna and Guangzhou

Lorenzo Sonego and Tyra Caterina Grant are set to begin their qualifying matches for tournaments in Vienna and Guangzhou, respectively. Sonego faces Paraguayan player Adolfo Daniel Vallejo in Vienna, a match noted as challenging due to Vallejo’s recent form. A victory would advance Sonego toward potential matchups against players such as Fearnley or Carreno Busta.

In Guangzhou, Grant must defeat Russia’s Elena Pridankina to enter the WTA 250 main draw, where she could face Vandromme or Lee.

Separately, at the ITF Combined Forte Village tournament in Sardinia, Italian players have seen significant progress. Lorenzo Carboni defeated the top seed, Tommaso Compagnucci, to reach the quarterfinals. Other Italian players, including Matteo Gribaldo, Tobia Costanzo Baragiola Mordini, and Andrea De Marchi, have also advanced in the men's main draw.
