Valentina Stragliotto dies after 30-meter fall at Sri Lanka's Ravana Falls

Valentina Stragliotto, a 27-year-old digital marketing professional originally from Bassano del Grappa, Italy, died following a fall at the Ravana Falls in the Ella region of Sri Lanka on September 24.

According to local police reports, Stragliotto was visiting the waterfall with a friend when she lost her balance while positioned on a rock near the top of the falls. She fell approximately 30 meters, sustaining critical injuries. Although she was rescued and transported to Demodara Hospital, she passed away shortly after arrival.

Stragliotto, who had been living and working in Brighton, United Kingdom, was a passionate traveler and worked as a coordinator for group travel agencies. She also managed a personal coaching project called ‘Aligned & Free’. Local authorities in Sri Lanka have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the accident, noting that the rocks around the falls can be extremely slippery due to water and algae.
