Italian towns advance sewage upgrade and asbestos cleanup projects

The municipality of Camerota announced that its new sewage treatment system, now operating with three modern plants, has restored high water quality and earned a Blue Flag designation. Mayor Mario Salvatore Scarpitta emphasized that the facilities were completed after years of delays and that no industrial waste is involved.

In Pantano, the local administration began a second phase of asbestos removal at the former Copredil site on via Labriola. Mayor Andrea Biancani and Environmental Assessor Maria Rosa Conti said the work, expected to last about two weeks, follows earlier decontamination and aims to ensure residents’ safety while the remaining buildings will be addressed in the coming months.
