Italian towns awarded €9.7 million for environmental and sustainable mobility projects

The municipality of Statte in southern Italy will receive €7.2 million from the national government to carry out environmental restoration and sustainable‑mobility works. Mayor Fabio Spada said the money, allocated under law 50/2026 and the PNRR, will fund three approved projects: a €2.1 million cleanup and renaturalisation of the Gravina di Leucaspide, a €3.6 million refurbishment of the Canal della Zingara with new pedestrian routes and green spaces, and a €1.5 million 2.5‑km cycle‑pedestrian path linking Feliciolla to the town centre.

In the north, the Emilia‑Romagna regional administration approved a new Feampa call that makes almost €2.5 million available to municipalities for water‑environment improvements, marine‑habitat recovery, biodiversity protection and aquaculture sustainability. Democratic Party group leader Paolo Calvano highlighted that the grants, covering 100 % of eligible costs and ranging from €500 000 to €1.5 million per project, can fund artificial reefs, ecological corridors, river‑course restoration and other measures to secure the future of the fishing sector.
