Italian towns Capannoli and Allerona boost solar energy initiatives
Capannoli installed a 14.14 kWp photovoltaic system on the municipal nursery “Il gatto con gli stivali”. The project, costing €88,954.69, was co‑financed with €31,018 from the Tuscany region and municipal funds. It follows the town’s earlier programme that equipped all local schools with solar panels. Mayor Arianna Cecchini said the installation demonstrates the administration’s commitment to a sustainable future for new generations.
Allerona’s municipal council voted unanimously to join the local energy community “Cer Paglia”. Mayor Luca Cupello explained that the membership will lower energy costs for public buildings, households and businesses, reduce CO₂ emissions and provide access to regional, national and EU funding for further renewable projects. The community aims to turn clean energy into a social and economic benefit for the town.
