Italian towns celebrate major hazelnut festivals
Several Italian towns are celebrating significant hazelnut festivals. In Caprarola, the 70th edition of the Sagra della Nocciola is scheduled from August 21 to September 1. The event features a variety of activities, including a video mapping ceremony, street food, allegorical parades themed ‘Willy Nocchia e la Fabbrica di Nocciolato’, and a closing concert by the band Nomadi.
In Cortemilia, the 72nd National Hazelnut Fair is set to begin on August 22. The festival highlights the Tonda Gentile hazelnut, a variety unique to the Alta Langa region known for its thin shell and aromatic flavor. The program includes cultural meetings, book presentations, and tastings of local specialties such as white truffle, Piedmontese wines, and traditional hazelnut sweets. The event will also feature guests from the Valle d’Aosta region.
