Italian towns set 2026 waste tax rates, many avoid hikes and expand bonuses

Across Italy, numerous municipalities are finalising their 2026 waste‑tax (TARI) plans. In Garlasco the council voted to keep the tariff unchanged while seeking incentives to boost recycling. Reggio Emilia approved a regulation that quadruples families eligible for a 25 % social bonus, raising the count from about 2,000 to 8,000 households and automating the discount through digital ISEE data. Similar moves were reported in Spigno Saturnia, Mosciano, Mariglianella and Assisi, where local authorities clarified advance payments, bonuses and new deadlines.

Bari’s executive council approved an urgent €16 million budget amendment for city‑wide maintenance, while mayors in the Cesenate area publicly pledged to halt any waste‑tariff increases. The overall trend shows local governments balancing fiscal pressures with social support, aiming to avoid tariff hikes and extend benefits to more low‑income families.
