Italian towns dispute over road works and dredging costs

In Sant’Agostino, a town in the Alto Ferrarese region, the opposition group Futuro Comune has accused the municipal administration of poor coordination and lack of transparency in a series of road works. The group says multiple construction sites, including the bridge on the Sp66, have turned the area into an “open‑air construction site,” disrupting traffic, harming local businesses and causing economic losses. The opposition has asked for a comprehensive traffic‑management plan, funding for affected enterprises and better communication with residents.

In Montecorice, a coastal municipality in Campania, the minority council led by Ivan Chiariello has challenged the cost and management of the town’s dredging service. The opposition claims the daily fee of €2,000, introduced in 2025, is excessive and lacks clear calculation. The vice‑mayor Ciro Cozzolino defended the rate, stating it covers a full package of personnel, equipment and fuel as set by regional pricing tables. Both disputes highlight tensions over public‑works spending and accountability in local Italian governments.
