Italian towns elect youth council leaders Greta Orsini and Greta Morlino

In the central Italian town of Gubbio, Greta Orsini was chosen as mayor of the municipal youth council, with Francesco Pazzi appointed as vice‑mayor. The election took place during the council’s first session, attended by local officials and educators, and followed a campaign in which the young candidates presented their community projects.

In the southern city of Nichelino, Greta Morlino was elected mayor of the local youth council, alongside a slate of three assessors and twenty councillors drawn from primary and secondary schools. The newly elected body pledged to promote civic participation and improve daily life for the town’s children, with support from the city mayor Giampiero Tolardo and local educators.

Both councils are intended to give young residents a real platform for active citizenship, democratic learning and community involvement.
