Italian towns hold traditional patron saint festivals

Various towns in Italy are holding traditional celebrations in honor of their patron saints.

In Gioia Tauro, festivities for Sant’Ippolito Martire concluded with a three-day program featuring musical performances by Garage N. 5 and the group Rewind 90. The celebrations culminated on August 13 with a solemn Mass and a procession, followed by a concert by Luchè that drew approximately 40,000 attendees.

In Giarratana, celebrations for San Bartolomeo have commenced. The festivities included the “Scinnuta,” the traditional descent of the saint's statue from the high altar, accompanied by hymns, bell ringing, and cannon fire. The event also featured performances by the Giarratana Drum Group and a concert by Broken Stick.
