Italian towns host celebrations of rural and peasant heritage
Various cultural events celebrating rural heritage and peasant traditions are taking place in the Lazio region of Italy.
In Dumenza, the exhibition ‘I gesti quotidiani del mondo contadino – Fotografie degli anni ’30 e ’40’ is open until August 23 at the parish hall on via Merici. Curated by local historian Maurizio Miozzi, the display features photographs from the 1930s and 1940s alongside historical tools and objects that document the daily manual labor and social identity of local farming families.
Meanwhile, Acquapendente has launched the ‘Sguardi dal territorio aquesiano’ activities as part of the ‘Viaggio nella Civiltà Contadina e Artigiana’ festival. Running through September 23, the event features 23 stands in the historic center showcasing traditional dishes, local flavors, and artisanal knowledge. The program includes gastronomic tastings, such as a guided wine tasting organized by Slow Food Viterbo e Tuscia, as well as live music and cultural performances.
