Italian towns host football memorial matches honoring local figures

The Forlì Football Club will stage the ninth edition of the Memorial Silver Sirotti on Saturday, 8 August, at 20:30 in Forlì. The match between Forlì and Cesena commemorates the heroic train driver of the Italicus and is supported by the Comune di Forlì. Ticket sales began on 3 August via Vivaticket and at the stadium box office, with prices ranging from €10 to €20, and free entry for children under five.

In the Molise town of Fornelli, a quadrangular football tournament will be held on Sunday, 9 August, to honor Michelangelo Vessella. The event, backed by the Comune di Fornelli, will feature former local clubs and a selection of friends and former teammates. Proceeds from voluntary contributions will be donated in full to the Associazione Italiana per la Ricerca sul Cancro (AIRC).
