Italian towns host senior-focused community initiatives

In Ozieri, Sardinia, Caritas diocesana presented the findings of its “Diversamente giovani” research on 26 June 2026. The study of 115 residents over 65 highlighted strong economic stability (89.6% not needing income support) yet a high prevalence of chronic illnesses (75.6%) and a notable “feminization of solitude,” with 24.3% living alone, 85.7% of whom were women. Local officials, including the bishop and the mayor, discussed the implications for social inclusion and elder care.

In Aosta, the nonprofit Plus is organising the second “Cena della Città” on 31 July 2026. The community dinner, held in collaboration with the Centre for Families, the local bocce club and the Anziani Attivi project, aims to bring together people of all ages. The evening will feature live music by Silvana Bruno, karaoke, quizzes and a DJ set, fostering inter‑generational interaction and social cohesion.
