Italian towns increase waste collection and community clean‑up efforts
In Pavia, a project for the collection of electronic and electrical waste (RAEE) coordinated by ASM, the cooperative Erica and the university raised the amount collected from over 109 thousand kilograms to about 116 thousand kilograms between January and May 2026. Eighteen collection points were set up, the mobile “eco‑mobile” service attracted nearly 1 200 visits and gathered roughly seven tonnes of RAEE. The initiative also provided school teaching materials, training for teachers and informational booths at local venues, with support from the mayor and the municipal environment assessor.
Separately, the volunteer group Amo Madre Terra, operating in the Alto Varesotto area, collected more than 80 bags of litter in three weeks of July 2024. Volunteers cleaned dozens of kilometres of roads and public spaces, engaged with children at local kindergartens, and received assistance from municipal officials, highlighting a continued community focus on environmental sanitation.
