Italian towns launch co‑housing homes for seniors and disabled

In Genoa, a second co‑housing dwelling for elderly residents was inaugurated on Via San Biagio 3 as part of the COLIVINGenova project. The initiative, promoted by the Comune di Genova together with Auser, Agorà, Anteas, Ada, the Comunità di Sant’Egidio, ASL 3, Regione Liguria and the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, aims to create a network of proximity services that support autonomy, prevent loneliness and enable shared neighbourhood life.

In the nearby town of Toritto, the former Casa Cantoniera was converted into a co‑housing home for up to twelve people with disabilities. Funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and carried out by the Ambito Territoriale Sociale 5 in partnership with the SoleLuna cooperative, the project “Percorsi di autonomia per persone con disabilità” provides independent living spaces, social inclusion and community support, marked by a CoHousing Day ceremony attended by local officials and the parish priest.
