Italian towns launch free summer activities for children

The Sistema Museale Rocca di Cave (SMuRC) in Rocca di Cave, Italy, runs a week‑long summer program for families starting 12 July. Activities include a guided visit to the Geopaleontological Museum, a treasure hunt, a planetarium show titled “From Earth to the Universe”, and a second edition of the “Week of Paleontologists” for children aged 5‑10 from 13‑17 July. The highlight on 19 July is the experiential installation “Nuvola d’Acqua e d’Aria”, where children explore the water cycle inside a large fabric cloud.

From 10 July to 26 July, the Rescaldina Shopping Centre offers free daily afternoon sessions for children aged 4‑12. Two themed play areas – “Piazza della Montagna” with alpine‑style obstacle courses and “Piazza dell’Acqua” with a space‑inspired setting – are open from 15:00 to 19:00 each day, supervised by centre staff. An adult must accompany each child, who can stay nearby while the child plays.

Both initiatives aim to provide free, educational and recreational experiences for families during the summer holidays.
