Italian towns launch summer sports facilities for athletes and residents

In Roana, the Pala Robaan ice rink will stay open through July and August, providing training slots for roughly 400 local athletes and weekend public‑skating sessions. The extension was financed by a €50,000 contribution from the Union of the Seven Municipalities and an additional €30,000 from sports clubs that purchased 300 hours of ice time. Mayor Luigi Martello said the move prevents athletes from having to travel outside the region while the main Asiago rink remains under repair.

In Legnano, the municipal “Campo dell’Amicizia” will be open daily from 25 July to 16 August, operating from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., with occasional evening sessions. Managed by ASD Santi Martiri Polisportiva Calcio, the trial aims to promote summer sport participation and reduce vandalism. The city will pay the association €5,500 for custodial, cleaning and security services.
