Italian towns Malnate and Terni call for urgent municipal service reforms

The local list Malnate Ideale urged the Malnate municipal administration to revise its service contract with waste‑collection firm Econord S.p.A. The group cited a sharp rise in dog waste, overflowing street bins, foul odors and abandoned litter, especially in summer, and proposed more frequent emptying, larger or dedicated containers, and a revised territory map.

In Terni, the Democratic Party group criticized the city’s Single Programming Document (DUP), saying it contains many promises but lacks concrete actions, clear financing and timelines. The critics highlighted uneven investment—most funds earmarked for mobility and few for welfare, culture, education and housing—and called for transparent reporting on ongoing works, defined responsibilities and measurable indicators.

Both demands aim to improve the quality and accountability of local public services in the Italian municipalities.
