Italian towns mark WWII-era anniversaries in 2026
The city of Tortona will hold an event on 12 September 2026 to mark the 80th anniversary of the 1946 institutional referendum that established the Italian Republic. The ceremony, organized by the local ANPI section, will honour former Interior Minister Giuseppe Romita, a native of Tortona, and is supported by the municipal administration.
On 9 August 2026, the municipality of Trecastelli will celebrate the 82nd anniversary of the liberation of its constituent towns. Ceremonies will include the laying of laurel wreaths at war memorials in Ripe, Castel Colonna and Monterado, a tribute to partisan Giuseppe Grossi, and the opening of the “Trecastelli Liberata” exhibition, organized with ANPI and the local veterans’ association.
