Italian towns move forward with renewable energy installations and public consultations

The municipality of Forlì has called a meeting with the regional health agency (Ausl) and the environmental protection agency (Arpae) to discuss the proposed installation of two large battery storage systems near an existing Terna power station and a biometane plant in the Malmissole area. Local opposition, led by the PD group, accused the administration of insufficient transparency and demanded a dedicated council commission, which the mayor's office announced will be set up in July, while noting its limited legal authority over nationally sanctioned projects.

In L'Aquila, the city council has selected a private consortium—Green Wolf CE of Bologna and PRISMIQ of Rome—to design and construct photovoltaic plants for its four Renewable Energy Communities (CER). The plan includes six solar installations across the western, central, eastern, and Gran Sasso zones of the city. Funding comes from a complementary EU fund of over €4 million, covering 40% of the total projected cost of more than €10.6 million, with the next phase involving negotiations between the municipality and the private partners.
