Italian towns of Pisogne and Messina host August market festivals

The lakeside town of Pisogne in Lombardy announced its 28th Mostra Mercato, scheduled for 12‑16 August. The five‑day event around Ferragosto will feature street theatre, contemporary circus, music concerts—including a lake‑side cello duo and a Senegalese griot singer—and guided tours of historic sites such as the Romanino frescoes in Santa Maria della Neve. International groups from Switzerland, France, Bulgaria, Germany and Chile are expected, alongside local artists and craft exhibitions.

In Sicily, Messina’s municipal authorities extended the street market on Viale Giostra to two additional Saturdays, 1 August and 8 August, running from 14:00 to 23:00. The expanded schedule aims to provide a year‑round shopping outlet for merchants and residents, with temporary traffic closures and parking bans on the central carriageway to ensure safety during the event.
