Italian towns Palmi and Mesagne roll out urban decor campaigns
The new municipal administration in Palmi, led by Mayor Giovanni Calabria, has launched the “Palmi è casa mia” campaign to promote urban cleanliness, proper waste disposal, care for public parks and monuments, and responsible pet ownership. The initiative uses short videos featuring ordinary residents rather than actors; as assessor Lucia Muscari explained, “We wanted citizens to tell the story of Palmi.” The spots will be broadcast on social media, printed outlets and billboards.
In the southern town of Mesagne, the incoming council has begun a series of actions aimed at improving urban decor ahead of the summer tourist season. Measures include rat control, street cleaning, grass cutting, green‑area maintenance in the industrial zone and repairs to an irrigation system. The administration, represented by assessor Antonello Mingenti, also plans to monitor public lighting, replacing faulty lamps to keep the city safer. Mingenti noted, “We are only at the beginning of a path, listening to citizens and working methodically together.” Both towns emphasize community involvement and continuous upkeep to make their cities more welcoming and livable.
