Italian towns Sorrento and Sorso experience planned works and recurring blackouts
In Sorrento, the utility E‑distribuzione will close Via Pantano to traffic from 13 to 17 July and suspend electricity for a single eight‑hour period on 13 July to replace a transformer and its aerial cable. Residents are advised to avoid using elevators and to limit appliance use during the outage.
In the Sardinian town of Sorso, a separate incident on 8 July left several streets without street lighting for about ninety minutes, while household power remained on. The outage is the latest in a series of short‑duration blackouts that have affected the area repeatedly over the past weeks.
Both events highlight ongoing reliability challenges for local electricity networks in Italy.
