Italian towns team up for sport facility upgrades under national 'Sport e Periferie 2026' program
Four municipalities in the Cilento area—Ogliastro Cilento, Prignano Cilento, Perito and Orria—have formed a joint agreement to meet the 5,000‑resident threshold required for the Ministry of Sport’s “Sport e Periferie 2026” call. The partnership aims to secure funding to renovate the municipal sports complex in San Rocco, improving facilities for competition, leisure and social inclusion across the participating towns.
Separately, the Sicilian municipality of Troina has approved a €2 million project to build a covered tennis court and an outdoor padel court near via Malaterra. The initiative will also be submitted to the same “Sport e Periferie 2026” programme, with the town contributing part of the cost from its own budget. Both efforts depend on the outcome of the national selection process and seek to enhance local sports infrastructure and promote community inclusion through sport.
