Giulianova and Pachino enforce new waste‑container rules

The municipality of Giulianova has mandated that unsorted (indifferenziato) waste be placed only in new, tag‑marked containers. The rule, already in force, means that bags, old containers or any untagged mastelli will not be collected by the waste operator Rieco, and residents are instructed to return uncollected waste to their homes and re‑expose it in the compliant bin.

In Pachino, the city council approved moving the ecological island – the local waste‑collection centre – from Via Mascagni to the disused former fish market in contrada Pianetti. The decision follows an inspection that found most market boxes unused or in poor condition and cites traffic and visual impact concerns at the current site. The relocation formalises the shift to the former market premises, which have been cleared of illegal occupations.

Both towns are implementing new local waste‑management measures aimed at improving collection efficiency and urban cleanliness.
