Italian TV airs horror film ‘Rovine’ set in Mexican jungle

The survival‑horror film Rovine will be broadcast tonight (Saturday 26 July) at 21:20 on Italy’s Rai 4. Directed by Carter Smith and produced by Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Films, the movie follows four friends—Jeff, Amy, Stacy and Eric—and a German tourist, Mathias, who venture into an isolated Maya ruin in the Mexican jungle. There they become trapped by a mysterious, lethal vegetation that turns the ancient site into a deadly cage.

The cast includes Jena Malone, Laura Ramsey, Shawn Ashmore, Jonathan Tucker and Joe Anderson. Although set in Mexico, much of the filming took place in Australia’s wilderness. The programme highlights the film’s blend of natural‑world terror and survival drama.
