Italian ultracyclist Omar Di Felice to start Transcontinental Race from Norway to Greece

Italian ultracyclist Omar Di Felice is set to compete in the 12th edition of the Transcontinental Race, which begins on 19 July at 20:00 in Trondheim, Norway and finishes in Kalamata, Greece. The self‑supported ultra‑cycling event spans roughly 5,000 km with a positive elevation gain of at least 50,000 m and typically lasts about 12 days, with more than 400 riders expected to start.

Di Felice missed the 2024 edition after a fall caused an elbow injury and was forced to withdraw from the 2025 start because of a cervical‑vertebra fracture. A recent left‑knee problem slowed his preparation, but he now feels physically ready. The race requires riders to choose their own routes between mandatory checkpoints, including Flåm in Norway and the Tatra Mountains on the Poland‑Slovakia border, with all ferry travel time counted as race time. Di Felice aims to finally secure the Transcontinental title, the only major victory missing from his palmarès.
