Italian Under‑20 Fencing Championships Conclude in Rome
The Italian Cadetti and Giovani fencing championships were held in Rome in June 2026, featuring about 650 athletes in the Under‑17 and Under‑20 categories. The competition culminated with the U20 sabre titles.
Giulia Paulis of Fiamme Oro Roma reclaimed the women’s U20 sabre crown, defeating Lavinia Delfino (Circolo Ravennate della Spada) 15‑10 in the final. Francesco Delfino, brother of Lavinia and representing Circolo Scherma Giuseppe Delfino, won the men’s U20 sabre title after a 15‑12 victory over Francesco Dodaro (Club Scherma Cosenza). Bronze medals went to Maria Sonzogni (Pro Novara Scherma) and Mariachiara Testa (Circolo Schermistico Forlivese) in the women’s event, while Riccardo Gera (Circolo Scherma Giuseppe Delfino) and Nicolò Sonnessa (Circolo Schermistico Forlivese) completed the men’s podium.
The event also highlighted strong performances across the top eight places, underscoring the depth of Italy’s youth fencing talent.
