Italian unions and academia host AI conferences in Padua and Molise

From July 2‑4, the Uil held its XIX national congress at the Padua Fair, gathering around 3,000 delegates, the prime minister Giorgia Meloni, Labour minister Marina Calderone and leaders of the major trade‑union confederations. The event placed artificial intelligence at the centre of discussions on collective bargaining, workplace safety, productivity and a proposal to redistribute gains by reducing working hours while keeping salaries unchanged. A round‑table also launched a campaign against femicides.

On June 26, the Regional Federation of Maestri del Lavoro in Molise organized a conference at the University of Molise titled “Inside Artificial Intelligence: tools, applications and scenarios of a revolution in progress”. Professor Rocco Oliveto presented the main AI applications, their impact on production, services, training and professions, and explored future scenarios for the labour market.

Both gatherings highlighted the growing relevance of AI for Italy’s workforce, policy and research sectors.
