Italian unions negotiate wage adjustments with employers
Italian trade unions, including CGIL, CISL, and UIL, are engaged in negotiations with employer associations regarding wages and representation. The unions are proposing an annual review of wages based on the IPCA NEI index—a price increase index that excludes imported energy components—to ensure real recovery against inflation.
Employers have responded by stating that wage adjustments must account for the specific conditions of each individual sector. This ongoing dialogue occurs amidst rising living costs and concerns over wage stagnation and increasing inequality.
