Italian unions propose tax cuts for Lazio families

Labor unions in Italy are calling for tax reductions to support families facing a rising cost of living. The Cgil union has proposed that the Lazio Region and the city of Rome eliminate certain Irpef surcharges. According to Cgil's general secretary for Rome and Lazio, Natale Di Cola, this structural measure could save families an average of 500 euros. The proposal includes eliminating the 0.5% regional surcharge and restructuring regional rates based on income brackets, while Rome would extend tax exemptions and reduce its municipal surcharge.

Similarly, Cisl Lazio has presented its 'Green Book for the Social Pact' to the regional government. Enrico Coppotelli, the general secretary of Cisl Lazio, emphasized the need to reduce the tax burden on workers and pensioners to increase purchasing power. The union argues that economic growth must translate into concrete benefits for citizens, specifically addressing the pressures of housing, energy, and essential services.
