Italian Universities Show High Graduate Earnings and Doctorate Employment Rates

The University of Verona is highlighted for its graduates' strong earnings. According to the University Report 2026 by the JobPricing Observatory, Verona ranks sixth among Italian state universities for graduate salaries, with average gross annual earnings of €45,877 for master’s degree holders and a 21% wage premium for ages 25‑34 compared with non‑graduates. The university also ranks 15th nationally overall, with an average salary of €37,784 for graduates aged 25‑34, slightly above the Italian average.

The University of Trieste reports a 96% employment rate for its PhD graduates within one year, based on the AlmaLaurea 2026 report. Of those employed, 77.5% work in roles directly related to their research, and 80.7% consider their doctorate highly useful for their job. The average net monthly salary reported by these new doctors is €1,963. Both reports underscore the economic value of higher education in Italy and suggest that university credentials continue to provide a significant advantage in the labour market.
