Italian University Rankings Released; Pisa Mathematics Dept Featured in Student Guide

Censis has published its annual ranking of Italian universities for the 2026/2027 academic year. The survey evaluates both public and private institutions on criteria such as facilities, services, scholarships, internationalisation, communication and employability, and adds sub‑rankings for bachelor, single‑cycle and two‑year master programmes based on more than 960 variables. Over the past decade, enrollments in traditional universities have risen by roughly 19.8%, and the latest provisional data show a 0.9% increase for 2025‑26, with the Central region registering the strongest growth at +2.3%.

In the accompanying Corriere della Sera "University Choice Guide 2026/27", Professor Giovanni Gaiffi, director of the Mathematics Department at the University of Pisa, appears in a promotional video. He describes studying mathematics as a rigorous and creative path that offers near‑100% employment prospects, linking the discipline to climate modelling, artificial intelligence, finance and logistics, and stresses the value of collaboration and intellectual honesty for future students.
