Italian vets and YouPet launch guide to protect pets from summer heat

Veterinary experts from the ATS Brianza service in Lombardy warned that high summer temperatures can quickly cause thermal stress in dogs and cats. They issued five practical tips, including always providing fresh water, avoiding walks during the hottest hours, checking pavement temperature to prevent paw burns, ensuring shade and ventilation for cats, and reporting abandoned animals.

Pet‑care platform YouPet responded with a free 60‑page digital guide titled “Estate: istruzioni per l’uso”. The guide expands on heat‑stroke prevention, water and shade availability, safe walking times, protection from hot surfaces, skin care, and special care for puppies, seniors and animals with thermoregulation issues. It also advises on travel safety, selecting pet sitters or boarding facilities, and proper summer feeding, aiming to help Italian families keep companion animals safe during holidays and outdoor activities.
