Italian villages host treasure hunt and celebrate Bandiera Arancione status

The seventh edition of the ‘Caccia ai Tesori Arancioni’ treasure hunt is scheduled for Sunday, October 4, involving 100 ‘Bandiera Arancione’ villages across Italy. In the Emilia-Romagna region, 11 municipalities will participate with themed itineraries. These include gastronomic tours in Dozza, musical paths in Pieve di Cento and Portico e San Benedetto, and traditional costume experiences in Castrocaro Terme and Terra del Sole.

Other participating locations in Emilia-Romagna include Castelvetro di Modena, Bagno di Romagna, Fiumalbo, Fontanellato, and Longiano. The event features new elements such as a commemorative passport for participants and special stops dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi.

In the Campania region, seven villages hold the ‘Bandiera Arancione’ certification, which is awarded by the Touring Club Italiano based on hospitality, services, landscape, and sustainability. Montefusco recently joined this list in September 2026. The certification is reviewed every two years to ensure high standards of visitor experience and heritage preservation.
