Italian volleyball clubs discuss performance and scheduling concerns
In the Italian volleyball circuit, Cosedil F3 Motors Akademia Messina and Sir Susa Scai are navigating different competitive landscapes.
Akademia Messina, led by coach Leo Barbieri, has completed its first four matches of the championship. While the team currently holds one point in the standings, statistical analysis shows significant offensive potential, particularly during a five-set match against Club Italia where the team achieved a 32% efficiency rate. Recent away matches against Costa Volpino and Trento have also shown improvements in reception quality.
Meanwhile, Sir Susa Scai celebrated a 3-0 victory over Prata. Following the win, club president Sirci expressed satisfaction with the team's performance and the enthusiastic support from the home crowd. However, Sirci also raised concerns regarding potential FIVB proposals to move major international competitions to the winter months starting in the 2028-2029 season. He argued that such a shift would negatively impact clubs, sponsors, and player well-being by disrupting the traditional seasonal calendar.
