Italian Volleyball Federation celebrates 80 years with event in Oristano

The Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV) is celebrating its 80th anniversary with a series of events across Italy. A significant celebration is scheduled for Sunday, October 4, in Oristano at the Hospitalis Sancti Antoni.

Organized by the Centro Sardegna Territorial Committee and supported by the Municipality of Oristano, the event aims to honor the history of volleyball in the region. Key recognitions will be awarded to individuals and clubs that have contributed to the sport's growth in the provinces of Oristano and Nuoro. Among the honorees is US Ariete, a club with over 50 years of history. Other awards will be presented to figures such as Gaetano Pitzolu, Ninni Careddu, Marzio Schintu, Sandro Floris, and Carlo Spiga.

The event will feature testimonials from athletes including Matteo Nuvoli, Paola Nonne, Franco Cani, and Marcello Marcella. Mauro Marras, president of the committee, stated that the celebration is a necessary act to recognize those who promoted the sport within clubs, federations, and schools.
