Italian Wine Expo Promoted on Navy Ship Amerigo Vespucci Visits Quebec and Montreal

The Italian Navy training ship Amerigo Vespucci is continuing its 2026 World Tour in Canada, stopping in Quebec City from July 23‑27 and in Montreal from July 29‑August 3. The tour, launched in Genoa on 9 May, is organized by Italy’s Ministry of Defence in partnership with the Foreign Ministry, Culture Ministry, and other government bodies, and is supported by the Italian Trade Agency, Veronafiere‑Vinitaly and Enel.

During the Quebec City stop the ship will host a presentation of the upcoming Vinitaly edition, the leading Italian wine exhibition, aiming to strengthen business matching and market access for Italian producers. Canada is a key market for Italian wine, with imports reaching 278 million Canadian dollars in the first five months of 2026 – a 9.3 % increase year‑on‑year and a 27 % market share. Over 300 Canadian wine operators attended Vinitaly 2026 in Verona, and the tour highlights the presence of more than 1.5 million Canadians of Italian origin and 160 000 Italian citizens in Canada.
