Italy live music and festival sector sees record economic growth
Italy's live music and cultural festival sector is experiencing significant economic growth and structural shifts in 2026. The summer season saw music revenues exceed 815 million euros, generating an estimated 4.3 billion euros in economic impact and driving over 11 million overnight stays. Major cities like Milan and Rome, along with festival hubs, have become central to cultural tourism.
To support this vitality, the Emilia-Romagna region has allocated over 280,000 euros to fund Live Clubs, covering up to 50% of expenses for original live music programming.
Across the country, numerous regional festivals are reporting high attendance. The Montelago Celtic Festival drew approximately 10,000 daily visitors, while Calici Santarcangelo recorded 60,000 attendees over two days. Other notable events include the Wine Not? festival in Sicily, the Mostra dei Vini in Montepagano with 15,000 visitors, and the Sagra del Raviolo in Marrubiu. These events highlight a strong trend of using local gastronomy, wine, and music to stimulate regional economies and tourism.
