Italian wine industry highlighted by new critical rankings

The Italian wine industry is highlighted through two major critical releases. James Suckling has released his Top 100 Wines of Italy 2026 list, a selection derived from approximately 7,000 tastings conducted by his team over the past year. The ranking evaluates wines based on quality, territorial identity, availability, price, and their ability to represent their origin, covering key regions such as Montalcino, Langhe, Etna, Alto Adige, Franciacorta, and Abruzzo.

Simultaneously, DoctorWine is marking its 15th anniversary with the release of the 13th edition of the ‘Guida Essenziale ai Vini d’Italia’. This guide reviews 3,476 wines from 1,347 companies, specifically highlighting 910 labels for their quality-to-price ratio. The publication, led by Daniele Cernilli, will be presented in Milan, Rome, and London throughout October.
