Italian wineries showcase regional viticulture in Umbria and Piemonte

Italian viticulture is highlighted through the distinct regional approaches of Tenuta dei Mori in Umbria and Tenuta Roletto in Piemonte.

In Umbria, Tenuta dei Mori, managed by the Vicaroni family, focuses on territorial value rather than specific varietals. Located near Marsciano and Perugia, the estate utilizes clay and tuffaceous soils to produce wines with high minerality. The producer currently offers four references with an annual production of approximately 25,000 bottles, with plans to expand the range to include Trebbiano Spoletino and Sangiovese. The estate also serves as a municipal venue for civil wedding ceremonies.

In the Canavese region of Piemonte, Tenuta Roletto has operated as an enological landmark since the early 20th century. Managing 65 hectares, the estate specializes in the Erbaluce di Caluso DOCG grape. The production showcases the versatility of the Erbaluce variety through different aging processes, including still wines, sparkling wines made via the classic method, and traditional passito styles. The terroir, shaped by the Balteo glacier, contributes unique acidity and minerality to the wines.
