Italian Women's Volleyball Serie A1 Overhauls TV Rights, Adds Live Social Media Broadcasts

The Lega Volley Femminile Serie A announced a multi‑year overhaul of its broadcast model for the women's top division starting in the 2026/27 season. Under a three‑tier arrangement, matches will be shown free‑to‑air on Rai, streamed premium on DAZN through 2029, and for the first time in Italy streamed live on the league’s, clubs’ and players’ official social‑media channels, including YouTube.

The deal, negotiated by Spike Media, replaces the niche OTT platform VBTV and extends DAZN’s rights to the regular season, playoffs, the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa and the Supercoppa Italiana. The strategy aims to boost visibility and audience numbers, leveraging the broader reach of free TV and social platforms rather than relying solely on pay‑tv revenue.

By opening the product to a wider audience, the league hopes to increase sponsorship, naming‑rights and ticket‑sale values, as audience size is the primary multiplier for the sport’s commercial ecosystem.
