Italians seek greater conviviality through shared meals
A study conducted by Unobravo involving 1,670 Italian adults reveals a strong desire for increased conviviality through shared meals, despite the challenges of modern, busy lifestyles. While many Italians view the table as a vital space for social and emotional connection, 53% of respondents expressed a wish to share meals more frequently.
The research highlights the importance of eating together for strengthening bonds. Approximately 77% of Italians see shared meals as a way to reinforce family ties, a figure that rises to 78% among parents seeking connection with their children. Furthermore, 74% view the table as an important opportunity for social interaction, and 73% believe frequent shared meals contribute to social and emotional wellbeing. Additionally, 69% associate eating with others to positive effects on mental health. Psychologists noted that the value of these moments depends less on duration and more on the quality of communication and listening during the meal.
