Italo pushes German government for mandatory share of high‑speed rail routes
Italian railway operator Italo is urging the German federal government to revise the allocation rules for high‑speed rail lines, demanding that a minimum share of such routes be reserved for its services. A hearing on the proposal is scheduled for Friday at the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur). Deutsche Bahn and Flixtrain are also expected to present their positions at the hearing.
The move reflects Italo’s effort to gain greater access to Germany’s high‑speed rail network, which is currently dominated by domestic operators.
