Italy addresses aging population through health and social care initiatives

Various initiatives in Italy are addressing the demographic challenges of an aging population, focusing on longevity planning, healthcare, and social support systems.

In Lecce, the “Felici & Longevi” seminar will address non-self-sufficiency, social housing, and fiscal impacts related to aging. The event aims to promote a “Long Term Care” model—an integrated system of home care, economic support, and housing innovation—to combat the desertification of services in rural areas and the increasing number of elderly individuals living alone.

In Castronno, the “La Cura” program consists of six meetings designed to explore how social and demographic changes affect health and quality of life. Topics include myopia prevention in youth, the role of family caregivers in assisting the non-self-sufficient, mental health, and the longevity economy.
