Italy addresses labor exploitation and agricultural intimidation

Authorities in Italy are addressing labor exploitation and criminal intimidation within the agricultural sector. In the Molise region, a joint inspection by the Labor Inspectorate Nuclei of Campobasso and Isernia led to the immediate suspension of a business. The investigation revealed that an entrepreneur was employing four non-EU workers without legal permits. These individuals were working in fields without any workplace safety protections or formal contracts.

In Calabria, the Diocesan Observatory on Mafia Phenomena and Legality in Cassano allo Ionio issued a statement regarding recent intimidations and fires targeting local agricultural businesses. The Observatory expressed solidarity with the victims, urging them to report these criminal acts to protect the dignity of honest work and the freedom of the community. The organization emphasized that remaining silent in the face of such aggression compromises the liberty of the entire territory.
