Bologna launches phase two of Città 30 road‑safety programme
The second phase of Bologna’s Città 30 traffic‑calming plan has begun. Works are under way on several streets, starting with Via Dante between Viale Carducci and Via Santo Stefano, to improve safety on routes used by schoolchildren.
The municipality is installing artificial speed‑bump cushions, known locally as "berlinesi", at multiple locations, adding lateral sidewalks, extending median islands at pedestrian‑crossing points, and updating road signage. Additional interventions are scheduled for Via Cristoforo Colombo, Via Stradelli Guelfi, Viale Felsina, Viale Lincoln, and several other streets and intersections, all described as small‑scale site works that will not disrupt overall traffic flow.
These measures aim to reduce vehicle speeds, protect pedestrians and cyclists, and address frequent local reports of unsafe road conditions.
