Italy advances elderly care infrastructure in Reggio Emilia and San Vito
Construction is underway in Reggio Emilia for a new 100-bed nursing home in the Pratofontana area. Managed by the Friulian holding company Sereni Orizzonti, the project is being designed and built by LifeCare. The three-story facility will feature four residential units, medical offices, a worship space, and rehabilitation areas. To ensure environmental sustainability, the building will be rated energy class A3 and equipped with a photovoltaic system expected to cover over 60% of its annual energy needs.
In San Vito, the municipal government has approved a 13.7 million euro public works plan spanning through 2029. A key component is a 2.5 million euro project for an elderly care home, alongside investments in schools, hydrogeological risk reduction, and urban infrastructure. The plan has faced criticism from the local opposition, which has labeled the document as repetitive and lacking transparency regarding the timing of major projects.
