Italy advances major bridge replacement projects in Trentino and Bobbio

In Trentino, the new 103‑metre steel arch bridge over the Adige at Ravina is nearing completion. Weighing about 1,000 tonnes, the structure is scheduled for its first launch at the end of July, aiming to improve hydraulic safety, traffic flow and provide cycling and pedestrian paths. The project, costing €16 million, is being built by Preve Costruzioni Spa with subcontractors Cimolai Spa and Metal360, and will replace a concrete bridge that has stood for about 40 years.

Meanwhile, on the SS45 "di Val Trebbia" near Bobbio, the San Salvatore bridge is slated for a two‑night night‑time closure on 6‑7 July to install a new steel structure. ANAS is overseeing the €1.5 million works, with traffic redirected via alternative routes. The temporary closure excludes emergency vehicles and will be followed by a single‑direction flow from 8 July onward.
